“We are proud to use resources to welcome and support as many refugee families as possible in our community,” said Adil Imdad the Chairman of Social Services with IFGSTL and the head of Bait Ulmal. “Therefore, we are inviting these families to a luncheon to show solidarity and help them integrate into the United States.”
The program will include welcoming remarks, networking opportunities, the connecting of Syrian refugee families with established American families, a meal, and much more.
“These families have left everything and are now trying to rebuild their lives in St. Louis,” said Faizan Syed, executive director of CAIR-MO. “It’s our duty to do whatever we can to help them get back on their feet and rebuild their lives.”
Bait Ulmal was established to help Syrian Refugees build a new life in the United States. Since it’s opening in November of 2015, the organization has helped more than 1,200 refugees, immigrants, and local impoverished St. Louis families of all faiths and backgrounds. They have fed and served meals to over 300 homeless people and distribute over $5,000 a week of assistance to the community’s needy.
Analysts say St. Louis will be home to more than 300 new Syrian refugees by the end of the year.
CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
