(ST. LOUIS, MO., 11/5/2015) -- The St. Louis chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-St. Louis) today joined the Islamic Center of Rolla Missouri (ICRM) and the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) in launching a billboard campaign to help dispel myths about Islam, American Muslims and Islam’s Prophet Muhammad.
The billboard, which reads “#WhoIsMuhammad, got questions, get answers!,” will be up for the next three months. It is located in Rolla, Mo., at I-44 just under a mile east of Route V (Hy Point Industrial Park Drive).
“People are curious to know about the Prophet Muhammad,” said CAIR-St. Louis Executive Director Faizan Syed. “This is an opportunity for us to continue to counter the troubling trend of Islamophobia by using proactive and productive means of dialogue and communications.”
“There are a lot of myths about Islam and our Prophet, may peace be upon him,” said Yaqoob Ali President of ICRM. “We hope this billboard, along with outreach efforts, will help educate the community about our faith and encourage people to contact us to meet Missouri Muslims.”
“The billboard is meant to dispel the growing misinformation about Islam and its Prophet,” said Farhan Pervez from ICNA. “Billboards invite passersby to call the toll-free number 1-877-Why-Islam or online.”
CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
