"The attacks in Paris are another reprehensible example of senseless violence,” said Leslie Heberlie director of communications and administration of IPSTL. “We are inviting the community to come together not only to pray for the victims in Paris, with whom many of us feel an affinity due to our shared values, but to contextualize these events within the wide swath of terror that has become part of everyday life for many. We have a lot of work to do before all people can feel safe to live and practice their faiths."
The event will include prayer services offered by various members of different religious communities.
The interfaith speakers include Mufti Asif Imam of Daar-Al-Salaam Masjid, Dr. Billie Mayo a Baha’I and President of Interfaith Partnership, Reverend C. Jessel Strong chair of the Interfaith Cabinet and Retired Presiding Elder in African Methodist Episcopal Church, along with various other religious leaders.
“Terrorism has no religion and targets every faith,” said CAIR-St. Executive Director Louis Faizan Syed. “By standing united in prayer, we are showing the world that these groups cannot divide us."
