Muslims from across the state of Missouri, including representatives from St. Louis, Kansas City, Rolla, Cape Girardeau, Columbia, Joplin, and Jefferson City, will be participating in the event.
The Missouri Muslim community began visiting the state capitol in 2010 in response to proposed anti-Islam bills in the legislature. This year, issues of concern include domestic drone use, immigration reform, opposing unconstitutional provisions of the NDAA, and increased security at Muslim institutions following the Joplin mosque fire.
CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.
