The second presidential debate will be held at Washington University Athletic Complex in St. Louis on Sunday October 9 at 8 P.M. CST. A large coalition of organizations including labor unions, civil rights groups, concerned citizens, faith communities, youth organizations, and others will hold a march to call out the toxic environment of hate that has been created during this Presidential campaign.
A statement from the organizers highlighted issues that need to be addressed, including racism, police shootings, immigration, a living wage, workers' rights, and affordable health care.
CAIR-Missouri Executive Director Faizan Syed said in a statement:
“This march is historic because of the tremendous diversity of peoples and organizations that are coming out to challenge hate and encourage civic participation. It’s an opportunity for Americans of all backgrounds to unite and stand against Islamophobia, bigotry, racism, sexism, xenophobia, classism, and all forms of hate to build a country where we are united.”
The program will consist of a rally in the Loop, speeches by various leaders, and a historic march to Washington University Athletic center.
CAIR is America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.”
