CAIR-Missouri: St. Louis 'Refugees Still Welcome Here' Rally Planned in the Loop
(ST. LOUIS, MO, 8/26/2016) – On Sunday, August 28, the #BringThemHere campaign, STL4Syria and the Missouri chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Missouri) will hold a rally and march to continue to welcome Syrian refugees to St. Louis and to urge elected officials to increase the number of refugees in the community.
The rally will be held in the parking lot behind Cicero's Pizzeria. There will be speeches from various community leaders, along with participation by Syrian refugee families. The march will start on the corner of Delmar and Kingsland and will go east until North Skinker. Marchers will then turnaround and return to the rally point.

"After witnessing yet another iconic photo of the young Syrian boy¸ Omran Daqneesh, covered in dust and bleeding, we as a community must continue to welcome Syrian refugees." said Faizan Syed, executive director of CAIR-Missouri. "The GOP Missouri primary was another horrific example of major candidates fueling fear and hatred against Syrian and all refugees for their own selfish political gains, and we need to speak out against that."

St. Louis is expected to welcome many more Syrian and other refugees from around the world. The Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis (IFGSTL) has created a charity, Bait Ulmal (House of Goods), that provides free donations to refugees and all Missourians.
