The St. Louis Chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR-STL) welcomes nine summer interns. Every semester CAIR-STL hires unpaid interns to work within its office to help organize events, defend civil liberties, build bridges between the Muslim community and Government, give public educational programs and much more.
“The interns that work with us are really amazing” said Faizan Syed Executive Director of CAIR-STL. “These interns help us get more done and that in turn helps achieve our mission. In return we provide them a unique and rewarding experience in a real world environment”.
This summer class of interns are working in the following departments:
- Civil Rights: One intern is working on a research projects based on various civil liberties issues.
- Government Affairs: Two interns are in charge of CAIR-STL ambassador program which helps foster relationships between elected officials and the American Muslim community.
- Communications: Three interns are working in the communications department to produce educational videos, give Islamic educational talks, and hold workshops to empower the American Muslim community.
- Operations: Three intern are working to utilize software, hardware, and build a professionally workplace. They are also maintain and updating all CAIR-STL software and office practices.
Interns work a minimum of twelve hours a week from June 1st till August 31st and upon completion are awarded at the graduation ceremony. The experience allows for young people to get real world experience and to organize and execute projects that have a positive impact in their communities.
